What We’re Eating this Week…Leftover Easter candy & delicious Paleo meals from this cookbook. It’s all about balance ;-).
What’s I’m Reminiscing About...
We took the most amazing trip to Hawaii, Australia, and New Zealand with Will’s family over Christmas this past year. Will and I had two days in Hawaii by ourselves before we joined up with the rest of his family, and it felt like a second honeymoon!
What I’m Loving…
What We’ve Been up to…Lots and lots of apartment projects. I’m almost done with my DIY greek curtains, and we’ve been hanging pictures right and left.
What I’m Dreading…Um? Nothing really. I have to work a few Sundays coming up in the next month or two, so I’m not too excited about that, but I wouldn’t say I’m dreading it. They feed us, and that is my threshold for enjoying most things.
What I’m Working On…It is my dream to become a Professional Organizer, so I have been starting to take on more organizing projects to build up my skills! Right now, I am working with my sister to get her laundry room functional and in order.
What I’m Excited About…Will, my sister and I are planning a trip to Europe in the fall! Will will already be in Madrid for a conference, so we are hoping to meet up with him there and then head to London, Paris, and Switzerland. My family lived in England when I was little, and I had the chance to live in London after I graduated from college. London is by far one my favorite city in the world, and I can’t wait to show Will all of my old haunts! And then Paris and Switzerland are just beautiful and we like beautiful places.
From our sisters trip to Paris in 2009, right after I graduated from college. Stephanie was getting her master’s degree in Winchester, so Deborah and I saved our pennies all year to go meet up with her and Russell that summer. We’re going to recreate this picture with Will… wonder how he would feel about wearing Stephanie’s dress to get an authentic shot?
What I’m Watching/Reading…I’m re-watching Friends on Netflix and it’s so much more relatable watching it as an adult than as a teenager. I mean, I think we’ve all been here:
I’m reading In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson, about the American diplomat who served in Berlin during Hitler’s ascent to power before World War II. Larson specializes in the non-fiction fiction genre, using historical documents, diaries, and interviews to weave together a narrative that encapsulates a historical event.
What I’m Listening to…Penny and Sparrow’s new CD, Let a Lover Drown You. My favorites are Each to Each, Eponine, and Catalogue.
What I’m Wearing... In true Texas fashion, the weather here has been all over the place- gorgeous and sunny one day, rainy and humid the next, beepin’ hot, then beepin’ cold.
Easter was glorious, so I got to break out the sundress I bought last year during an after Easter sale:
Then Monday I was back in a turtleneck and boots for 50 degree temps:
Then Tuesday, it was a sundress plus boots kind of day. Make up your mind, Texas!
What I’m doing this Weekend...Will and I have a date planned for Friday evening that includes donut based cuisine at Gourdough’s (think savory donut burgers, it’s the stuff dreams are made of), followed by 10 Cloverfield Lane at Alamo Drafthouse.
On Saturday, my mother-in-law is coming into town and we’ll be headed to Round Top to spend the day perusing the stalls at their Spring Antique Week! I’m hoping to find some unique treasures for our apartment.
What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month… Our church is hosting a marriage conference in mid-April!
What Else is New... Will and I will be taking over as leaders of our bible study/community group in a few weeks. We are really excited to get to serve together as a couple! And a little nervous. Maybe a lot nervous.
What Spring Cleaning Tips Do you Have? I go through all of my clothes every spring and check each and every piece for wear and tear, fit, etc. then donate or sell the pieces that have run their course in my life, i.e. what I no longer want but hopefully someone else will. This year, I also de-color coded my closet and instead organized everything by type (short sleeve works shirts, long sleeve work shirts, t-shirts, dresses, etc). This has helped me to see what holes I have in my wardrobe, and shop with intention for items I actually need to have a well rounded and balanced closet.
