I had an event all day today, and at one point had to ask a student volunteer what day it was. Once he told me it was the 20th (of April no less), I then needed clarification as to what day of the week it was well.
I’m here to tell you, because I have now been made aware: It’s Wednesday.***
A few things I’m pinning:
I have gone plant crazy the past week after buying a rosemary bush, a peace lily, and a pot of lavender for our apartment. I want all the plants now. And not just that, I want them all to live! And make me happy and healthy!*
*I know plants, like money, do not make you healthy and happy. But they do help.
Packing for a Weekend Getaway (or, the Low Commitment Capsule Wardrobe)
Will and I are headed to Boston next week, and (fun fact), this means that I have already started packing. I LOVE packing. I love picking out my outfits, I love buying little travel shampoo bottles, I love not checking a bag and only taking exactly what I’m going to need. I get weird with the packing. I take pictures of all of my clothes laid out on my bed so I can reference what I brought without having to dig through my suitcase. The only thing I love more than packing? Unpacking. I unpack within minutes of walking through the door. It brings me a weirdly disproportionate amount of joy for a process that includes digging through days of dirty clothes.
What’s currently tripping me up for this particular trip is the weather. The 10 day forecast suggests that when we are in Boston, it will be in the mid 50’s to low 40’s. That is winter in Austin. In fact, that may be worse than winter in Austin. So, I originally planned on wearing something like this:
But when I typed in ‘what to wear in Boston in Spring’ to Pinterest, this is what came up: I’m pretty sure that ripped knee slit would give me frost bite if I wore that when it was 57 degrees outside. How do people live in the cold??? I need to start my own pinterest board called ‘wimp trying to look cute in only moderately breezy weather’ to see if anyone has any ideas.
Beepin’ Gallery Walls
A few weeks ago, Will graciously helped me put a gallery wall in our living room. Just the frames. And now that I am trying to fill said gallery wall with pictures/art, I hate it. I hate everything about it. I am in too deep with all of the holes in the wall, so I am going to make it work no matter what but… it’s been rough.
I have had many a gallery way in my adult life, mostly because I like my space to be very meaningful and cozy and full of life, and a gallery wall just says all of those things to me. This has been perhaps my worst one to date, but I have high hopes for it none the less. It just needs some (a lot) of tweaking.
This gallery wall is from one of my very favorite house tours ever. Everything about this house is light, airy, storied and gorgeous, but this gallery wall in particular is perfection.
Another favorite is this one from a home tour on the Everygirl:
The mirror! The mix of photographs and paintings and quotes and silly art! It’s so effortless and happy. I’m going to get there, if that’s the thing I do (and with the number of holes in my walls, it may be the last thing I do).
***It’s now Thursday. Thursday, April 21st. My internet went out last night, so here we are. Just didn’t want to cause my confusion. Tomorrow will be Friday. It’s all going to be ok.
