A sweet centerpiece I put together for an event last week- one of my coworkers came up with the idea to pair the easter egg basket grass and seed packets with the burlap wrapped mason jars and it came out so stinkin’ cute! I’ll do whatever it takes to get to spend the morning arranging flowers at work.
Every year the Spring Cleaning bug bites me around March – but instead of cleaning per se (I hate cleaning), I have the desire to purge, simplify, redecorate, and bring all the color into all of the things. I’ve had to stop myself from buying multiple gingham tops (one is probably enough, right? Or maybe two?), and I’ve got about 10 different floral pillows favorited on Etsy I can’t decide between.
We hosted a fancy reception yesterday with some hot shot execs who had donated a bunch of money for a new center at the school. Everyone, and I do mean everyone, was wearing some variation of a black suit. Even though half my wardrobe is black tops and pants, I showed up in a navy pencil skirt, bright mint green cap sleeve top, chunky pearls and beige lace up shoes. Also, my work watch has a pineapple on it. Whatever. I am who I am and maybe sometimes who I am is less professional than other people? I’m ok with it.
A few of my favorite Spring Things inspiration recently:
A living room revamp from one of my favorite bloggers! That lemon pillow is amazing. I had never considered the fact there even were green velvet couches in existence, but now that I know, I’m glad and I’m in support.
I sometimes get tripped up when it comes to being a plant owner because a) we live in an apartment with only a second floor balcony and b) I kill all plants that come under my care, but I love this small balcony garden so much it maybe kind of gives me the impetus to try a little harder this year? We currently have one plant, and I often forget to water it, so this may be extremely wishful thinking but Pinterest has a way of giving me confidence. I recently added this print to our bathroom- the colors are so happy, and I love looking at it every morning when I’m getting ready.
A gingham window seat!??? I have always dreamed of having a window seat in my home someday… though in my dreams, it would be a bit longer than this one so I could nap on it. BUT, I haven’t taken a real nap since kindergarten, so I could definitely make do with this one if anyone is offering.
I’m just waiting for free shipping to buy this lovely for summer weddings. The blue is so bright, because JCrew never does anything by halves, and I love it.
And lastly, sweet Audrey with her PET FAWN. We don’t see many fawns around Austin, but I could potentially adopt the albino squirrels who hang out in the tree behind our balcony and act like meth heads. Though I suspect them trying to climb my pant leg while I scream would not make for such a cute photo op.
