My nephew is in a really sweet stage right now, and actually let me cuddle up to him on Sunday evening! He is usually not so big on the cuddles (except when it comes to his little sister, who he once claimed was ‘a boolly (bully)’ because she wouldn’t cuddle him in the grocery store), so this was a serious treat! Even the dog got in on the action.
What I clicked on this week:
I have never wanted to be part of a Carpool Karaoke more than this one, mainly because they get a text from Leo, and I would do pretty much anything to get a text from Leo.
I’m a big fan of practical podcasts, and this one from Caroline Rector of UnFancy has got me rethinking my approach to shopping and curating my wardrobe. I’m still building up to doing a capsule- maybe in the fall (maybe).
Will and I just started watching Parenthood. I am full on obsessed and Will is moderately obsessed. We got to the end of the first episode and he announced, “this is your family.”
As it’s the law of the land, we have also been tuning in to see JoJo find true love on The Bachelorette. ‘The Chad’ is a pretty good villain, way better than Bentley on Ashely’s season, or whatever the wrestler guy’s name was on Ali’s season, and possibly even Clint from Kaitlin’s season, though I suppose time will tell. Eating lunch meat out of his suit pocket during a rose ceremony is definitely one of the weirder villain tropes we have seen on the Bachelorette.
We celebrated my sister’s birthday on Monday with a girls lunch at Galaxy Cafe, a trip to Kendra Scott for new jewels and an evening of grilling out and watching The Bachelorette.
From Deborah’s birthday party a few weeks ago- Diddy is still not into the pictures.
One of my very best girlfriends is moving to the Philippines at the end of July to teach school. Though I am going to miss her dearly (as will Will, she is my most responsible friend, I left my jacket sitting in that flower bed about 5 minutes after this picture was taken and she picked it up… when I realized this had happened he asked for the hundredth time, ‘What are you going to do without Carmen?’), I am so excited for her to embark on this next big adventure. We had her going away party, Part I (of who knows how many) on Sunday evening, complete with taco’s Torchy’s, donuts from Gordough’s, then some major karaoke at Highball.
My go-to karaoke songs include ‘Never Ever’ by All Saints (dueted with Grace, naturally, since we spent most of 6th grade recording ourselves singing this song on her tape player), Katy Perry’s ‘Firework’ and pretty much anything by the Dixie Chicks. Also, because of my fast talking skills, I will never turn down the opportunity to rap.
And now for a quick goal check in! I am really trying to focus on wellness this summer, and using this slower season to recharge and relax, something I am, you know, really bad at. I implemented a new, somewhat relaxing morning routine in late May, and it has made a world of difference in how I function the rest of the day.
- Read at least 1 Book (in progress: WomanCode)
- Finish organizing the bathroom cabinets
- Have an errand free weekend
- Check 1 thing off my ‘procrastination list’ (basically just stuff I don’t want to do)
- Continue on with my new ‘Relaxing Morning Routine’
Read at least 1 book (In progress: The Witches: Salem, 1692) Finish organizing the guest room
- Re-do that stinking curtain panel I did wrong the first time (hello procrastination list!)
- Send a note to a friend who lives far away (why do I give myself so many goals?)
- Use my kitchen-aide (again, why)
Try out a new paleo dessert recipe
- Sell our old jute rug on Craigslist (whyyyyyyyyy????)
Get started on our patio decorating!
