Spring Break, I may be an adult working lady, but I love you.
My best friend got married last week! It was such a special, surreal, joyful day. As is life, it rained like crazy for a good portion of the day, but we were able to get some great outdoor shots between torrential downpours. I took very few pictures because I was busy enjoying myself (these bridesmaids were so fun), so I only have a few shots of me and the bride, and they are all grainy and photo bombed because they were taken during dinner. Hopefully people will post their photos soon so I can steal them.
Loved getting to be in a wedding with Will! He looked delightfully, delicously British in his groomsmen get up. If I could just have slapped a newsboy cap on him… #goals.
I mentioned earlier this week that it is SXSW in Austin, which means that celebrities and hipsters (and celebrity hipsters) have descended en masse upon the city.
While everyone else was off being cool on Saturday night, Will and I had a date at the Applebees where they filmed Friday Night Lights to celebrate finishing the series. We then went home and watched Harry Potter five because Will just finished the book. So essentially, we went on a date I would have gone on in high school.
This was the first year since I graduated from college that I haven’t done anything SXSW related, and to be honest, I don’t regret it. I also don’t regret this shirt (a Christmas present my from sister):
This was Part I of a two part Friday Night Lights themed date- we are going to see Explosions in the Sky next Friday.
Since the university pretty much shuts down for Spring Break (not really, but it feels like a ghost town since all the students are gone or in hiding), I took a few days off at the start of this week to catch up on life and tackle some DIY projects around the apartment. I undertook this IKEA rast hack and it went… poorly. Those gorgeous bright white drawers turned YELLOW when I put the sealant on them, which I didn’t realize until I was reassembling everything last night. They look diseased. I’ll be headed to Home Depot at lunch to grab some heavy duty sand paper and the brightest white paint I can find.
Will has been out of town this week for work, so I have been bingeing on Friends episodes, having popcorn and wine for dinner, and going to bed past midnight every night.
I just got to the ‘Pivat. PIVAT’ episode. Oh, how I love Ross Gellar.
I ran every errand known to man this week, spent some quality time in multiple Targets and dropped a chunk of disposable income on pretty things to brighten up my closet and my apartment for spring.
I’m super excited about this top:
It’s wrinkle resistant, lightweight but still office appropriate, and fully bum covering (this model is a giant), all qualities I highly value in my clothing.
I’m loving these pretty glass candlesticks from Michaels- I’ve had my eye on similar ones at World Market, but I found these for half the price. Also from Michaels, I give you the suede candle:
Suede!? Is this a thing people want their home to smell like? This candle was sitting on a shelf with three options: ‘unscented,’ ‘vanilla,’ and ‘suede’ like it was nothing. It reminded me of a time when I found a body splash (remember body splash??) called ‘Body Fantasy: Freshly Washed Baby’ and wondered … wait a minute, do grown people actually want to smell like a freshly washed baby? Or this for your still actual freshly washed baby to enhance their smell? We’ll never know.
