A few weeks ago, I went to a taping of the Jamie Ivey Happy Hour Podcast at Mercury Hall! I have loved listening to these podcasts over the past few months- she is so encouraging and uplifting, and her guests are always full of good book recommendations and wise words (my two basic criteria for new friends in general). I especially loved getting to meet Jamie after the taping- I’ve got to say, I am not the smoothest with ‘celebrities’ and think I just weirdly prattled on about fake eyelashes and cookies (which was somewhat relevant to the evening), but Jamie was very gracious and steered my prattling into something resembling a conversation.
The Ellen Show came to campus last week to give away tickets to the Grammy’s! The call to arms was ‘How fast can you pull together a Beyonce costume?’ and I’ve got to say PRETTY FAST. This was taken around 3 pm, and they announced the competition at 11 am.
This Where’s Waldo of Queen Bee was (admittedly) most of my afternoon at work. You can watch the clip of the winners here.
I coordinated my first wedding of the year for some friends from church on Superbowl Sunday!
Not pictured: My binder of wedding organization, for which I stake my life during events.
They got married at the Zilker Park Clubhouse, which is a hidden gem if you are looking to get married in Austin. Just look at that skyline! After predicting thunderstorms and fog all week, the weather cooperated and we spent most of the evening outside enjoying this gorgeous view.
I’ve got to say, the twinkle light game was strong with this couple:
This grainy iphone picture does not do it justice, but their ‘last dance’ was one of the most romantic things I have ever seen at a wedding. The couple also met doing ballroom dancing, so they were like, actually waltzing at this point and not just swaying to the music. It was magical.
I’ve been feeling pretty angry in general about this season of the Bachelor (and also kind of bored, but that is a problem for another time). Even though it is a reality television show, I still feel like these are people’s LIVES we are watching, however manufactured, and I don’t appreciate that they picked a lost boy to screw around with these sweet ladies’ hearts for 2 months.
But then. A friend introduced me to these photo recaps, and I laughed until I cried and felt grateful for every moment of Nick’s stupid journey to picking a girl he might date for the next 4-6 months, maybe.
And this one made my office mate and I laugh so hard we printed it out and taped it to our wall:
I am getting my hair chopped and balyaged tomorrow! I love having long hair but am so incredibly lazy about doing anything other than curling it… and basically feel like I do not deserve long hair. This is hair discipline y’all. Sadly, I am also getting more grays by the day, including but not limited to those wiry-stick-straight-out-of-your-head-like-an antennae-ones that have materialized over night to ruin my Friday morning. So, bring on the cut and color!!!! I’m envisioning this:
My hair stylist is my friend and miracle worker, so I am excited to see what she does!
Happy weekend, everyone!
