Welcome to Everywhere Joy!
I’m Heather, a newlywed living in Texas with my wonderful husband. By day, I am an Event Coordinator and occasional Wedding Coordinator. By night, I am a novice cook, developing health nut, avid book worm, and obsessive re-organizer of all the things. I am exceptionally lucky to live in the same town as my sweet family, including my niece and nephew, who are cuter and smarter and funnier than all children, everywhere, I’m sure of it. My favorite food is pancakes. I was an English major, and my goal in life is to someday get paid to drink coffee and read books all day. I was born in Cambridge, England and spoke with a British accent until I was five, when we moved to the states and I succumbed to the tune of southern peer pressure, namely ‘y’all’ and ‘bless your heart.’
I am a musical theatre geek, so I have to admit upfront that the title of my blog is borrowed from the song ‘Nowadays’ from the musical Chicago. I’ll help you out since I’m sure you’re humming the tune to yourself right now (or, depending on your tolerance for musicals, skimming over this section entirely):
Everywhere jazz, everywhere booze
Everywhere life, everywhere joy
I really wanted my blog to be about joy in some way, and I just couldn’t get that song of out my head while trying to come up with a title– but I think it’s perfect. There is joy to be found everywhere, whether it be in the ordinary of our day to day lives, or in the magic of the things we create and consume. I believe that all good things come from God, and that I can and should celebrate that with everything I do.
The parallel to a musical about women murdering their lovers is unfortunate…
but that is how my brain works.
I love to laugh, and I love to encourage people.
If you too love to laugh and be encouraged, I hope you will stick around.
